Little Brown Worms In My Carpet

A reader wrote to us about some tiny brown worms she has been finding in various places around her house including her laundry basket her bathroom and her kitchen counter.

What you might think is worms in your carpet is most likely the larvae of assorted insect species such as spider moth and fly larvae. In addition to being in her carpet the small black worms are also on the baseboards around her house which isn t surprising given that baseboards often line carpet. Or how to get rid of them. Our reader says she is desperate to be rid of these creatures which come out during the night and make spending time on her porch uncomfortable as. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of their larvae. When the reader says tiny she means it as she only estimates the worms to be about a quarter of an inch or six millimeters in length.

First do a thorough vacuuming of the entire carpet. The three main species of carpet beetles are the varied carpet beetle the furniture carpet beetle and the black carpet beetle. I dont know what to do. An adult carpet beetle won t cause your home any harm.

Okay i was cleaning out under my bed and i saw these little brown worms crawing in my carpet. Two major home invaders are the carpet bug better known as the carpet beetle and the maggot which is actually a house fly larvae. I havent been back to my apt in over a month and now they seem to be dead leaving bruises that arent sore in a worm like pattern.
